Upcoming Show

My first update since March... I've either been tremendously busy or incredibly lazy...you decide!

I'm happy to announce that I'll be participating in a group show this coming December at Studio 561 in Toronto. I will post the date\time and other info as the show approches =)

The piece i'll be showing is titled " The Last Bodhisattva".

It's basically about the jounery from a secular based, material life to one of a deeper, more spiritual nature and yet ultimately, dwindling apathetically halfway.

It's the biggest canvas i've done yet. Roughly 6ft in length.

Here's a progress shot

New stuff

I was going to write a little blurb about my day, tell you of my recent encounters, my feelings and what has been going on in my life.. An all around update of my life and art. But I'm not. One of these day's when I feel I have something of signifigance to convey through words or maybe even a satire, I will write it down and share it with you. But until then it's all flakey, half-attempts at funny-intros and images of thing's i'm working on. I hope that will suffice. But since I'm on the topic of words.. I have begun writing short stories again, so hopefully soon I will be able to post something.. wordy.

Here are three new one's that I recently finished for The Group Portriat show. I still have some hair rendering to do on "Entangled Nostalgia" but other than that and some bad lighting, here they are.

All are Acrylic on canvas and wood panel and all are up for sale. Just message me for details and pricing.

Stay tuned!

Flyer

Here's a flyer for the show that is now less then one week away.. I'm not even close to finished what i'm working on for it. But they say the turtle wins the race, or something to that effect, so I should be alright?

The image on the flyer is a painting i'm working on that's half complete and will be fully complete and up for purchase at the show. The show is a one night only event so do stop in a say hi if you're in the area.. =)

Upcoming Show, new work..

Greetings..

It's come to my attention that I only update this thing about four times a year. That's one for every season.. If this blog were a shelf, it'd be pretty effin dusty. Or a garden and it'd be saturated with weeds. Man eating, honey-I-shrunk-the-kids, weeds. But it's not either. It's just a half-assed blog. So In an attempt to make it less half-assed, dusty, unkempt, etc; here's an update!

This November I'll be participating in a portraiture themed, group show in the Annex (toronto). There will be a wide variety of artists working in all types of media. There will also be a few bands performing and certainly most importantly, food. So come.

Right now I'm working on a new series of portraits, some of which will be up for purchase at the show come November.

A couple of update shots from the first piece i'm currently working on:

I'll keep posting updates of my progress from now until the show and I'll release the show details when I get them, so stay tuned. Be happy

Sheeeeeeple

Today I got my hair cut. I also took a couple of pic's of work's-in-progress, which is the thing that makes more sense to talk about.. And I recently did an interview with Marcus from A La Mode which can be seen here: http://www.fusionofeffects.com/2010/05/undiscovers-mike-howkins.html

The first pic is of a painting that I've been working off and on for a while now. I'd say it's about 70% complete but in all honesty I have no idea. The second is a quick drawing called"Sheeple", an idea that i've been playing around with for a while which I'll be elaborating on in the near future.

"Sheeple"

Peace, love, etc..

May(?)

If this past April were a plane and I was on it, it would of crashed and burned miserably; and not in a cool way either like on Lost, it would have really just sucked. And It did. But aside from ant infestations, car-meltdowns and ambulance rides it was pretty swell. Sarcasm. That was April.

This is May and May is perfection. So to start it off right here are a few drawings including a newer one:
